Some of the best salmon rivers are to be found in Quebec, to reach them you have to go to the north coast where the Innu Indian territory begins. Along the St. Lawrence River, there is a single road, 1,300 km long, connecting Montreal to the Indian city of Natashquan. Beyond, the immensity of Quebec belongs to nature and the Indians.
Stay in an Outfitter Club. The influx of salmon during spawning attracts wealthy Quebecois fishermen to the Indian lands. The Innu have exclusive fishing rights in their territory; a fishing trip is made with their consent. They then serve as guides, taking their visitors into the middle of rivers to experience the adventure of salmon fishing.
Salmon, king of the salmonid. Leaping out of the water to cross rapids, it is a rare sight to see the salmon run and it takes all the ancestral knowledge of the Innus combined with the techniques of white Canadians to make it out of the water alive.
